Ardrossan in North Ayrshire is a thriving commuter town with a population of around 11000, served by three railway stations connecting along the Ayrshire coast to Glasgow. Ferry sailings began in 1834, and the harbour has developed from its origins as a shipbuilding port to today's use as a marina, with daily Caledonian MacBrayne sailings to Arran. The town is part of the Three Towns along with Stevenston and Saltcoats, and is today enjoying a time of regeneration, with new businesses and development. Ardrossan's notable landmarks include Barony St John's Church and St Peter-in-Chains Church, both overlooking South Beach. s1ardrossan.com has been developed to allow residents to share their news, views and opinions, publicise events and display photos and videos.
