Contact the Elderly - a lifeline of friendship for lonely elderly people
Contact the Elderly, is a small national charity whose aim is to alleviate the loneliness and isolation experienced by too many of our older population. We do this with the help of volunteer drivers and hosts who organise monthly tea parties for people over the age of 75, who live alone and can't get out much themselves. We provide a lifeline of friendship for older people, many of whom experience depression and anxiety as a result of their isolation.
We have had groups throughout the West Coast since 1971, and now have 19 groups across the west. We are always trying to reach more older people in need of our help, and we are hoping to start a new group in North Ayrshire but urgently need two more drivers and six hosts before we can launch. If you would like more information please contact Caroline Learmonth on 0141 812 5744 or email caroline.learmonth@contact-the-elderly.org.uk
