How do you feel that Ardrossan has been nominated for a Plook Award?
Cheeky Carbuncle Awards organisers have nominated Ardrossan for a notorious prize.
Ardrossan is one of seven towns nominated for the Plook on the Plinth Award which recognises the worst towns, buildings and planning disasters in the Carbuncle Awards.
Organisers, Urban Realm architecture magazine said on their website about the town: "Woefully unambitious waterfront regeneration has failed to capitalise on Ardrossan's strategic position as a gateway to Arran. Planned development of the Ardeer Peninsula poses a significant challenge to the existing centres of Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston."
Ardrossan is joined in the hall of shame by Nairn, Linwood, Irvine, Fort William, Dumbarton, Cambuslang and Port Glasgow.
Organisers believe the prize can actually have a positive effect on the winning town, stating: "Although, on the face of it, a negative award, the Carbuncles have in fact had considerable success not just in raising awareness of urban design but in improving the fortunes of some of our forgotten places and spaces as previous winners of the inglorious trophy will attest."
What do you think about the nomination, are you proud of your town?
