Detectives are continuing enquiries following an attempted murder in Hill Street.
Police were called at around 8.25pm on Monday, June 11 to a report of a man lying on the ground with a serious head injury. The man, aged 18, was taken to the Southern General Hospital where he is detained in a critical condition.
Detective Inspector Colin Drummond said: “A man has been left critically ill following this attack and it’s imperative we trace whoever is responsible.
"Officers are at the scene continuing enquiries to establish what led to the man being injured – he was found seriously injured in the street and I have no doubt that the answer to what happened to him lies within the local community.”
Enquiries so far have revealed that the injured man was involved in an altercation with another person on Hill Street. CCTV images are currently being gathered and will be reviewed to ascertain further detail about the incident. Officers continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries.
Detective Inspector Drummond added: “I would appeal to local people to get in touch, our initial enquiries have revealed that there were other people around at the time the incident and I would urge these people to come forward and speak to us. Any piece of information could prove vital in our investigation.”
