Council moves to allay fears for Ardrossan's Whitlees Centre

North Ayrshire Council have said that there are no current plans to close Whitlees Community Centre, moving to allay fears that the venue could be a victim of cuts.

There had been fears with the current round of council cutbacks that the popular community centre could be under threat, but the council have said that there are no plans to close it - and that no decision has been taken on the future any of the area's community councils.

Fears about a possible closure had even led to a petition in the town calling for the centre to be kept open.
