Great turnout in the sun for Irvine Bay fun run
20 AugustThe second Irvine Bay fun run was again a great success, with around 120 people turning out for the start of the run from Ardrossan on Sunday 15th August.
The family-friendly event offered a lively and welcoming atmosphere and attracted walkers and runner of all levels. Supporters turned out to encourage participants along the way, with refreshments, t-shirts and medals for everyone crossing the finishing line.
The run was organised by local running-enthusiast, Jim Montgomerie, also known as The Running Kilt. Jim said: "Another brilliant day. It was really gratifying to see so many runners, and more importantly, local people turning out to cheer everyone on. There was such a happy vibe, and a real community spirit. I am already thinking of ways to improve the event for next year."
Kirsty Innes, Marketing Manager, Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, who also took part in the run, said: "We were delighted to support Jim in this fantastic event. It was a very hot day for running, so thanks to all the supporters who turned out to encourage us along the way!"
